Filter doesn't apply

This is the same problem Kickaha Wolfenhaut asked about last June. Except I did click the grey plus sign and my filter still has not been applied. I'm trying to filter items with a specific character. I first tried using the Character" attribute and the character's name. Nope. Then I tried "Participant" and the Character name. Nope. So I combined these two with an AND, clicking the grey plus sign after creating each piece. Nothing happens. All events still show up, including many that do not include the character I supposedly have filtered for.

Dunno. I just tried it and both worked as expected for me.

Hi, When you click the grey plus sign, does it create a filter token (which would look like "Participant: Character Name" with a cross on the end) which does not filter any events, or does clicking the icon do absolutely nothing (nothing on the screen changes)? Also, what operating system are you using? Jess

Hi Jess, When I click the grey plus it creates a filter token -- a light grey rectangle with "Participant: Character Name" text in it and a small x at the end. And outside the rectangle is the "Click to add filter..." I have two saved filters (the one above and another looking for Character: character name). When I select "load filter" and pick either one, what loads is a filter token that says "NoOp: NoOp" I've done that over and over. So when I want to try my character filter, I have to recreate it because the saved one won't load. I'm on a Mac, Sierra 10.12.2. I have the iPad version too, but haven't tried filters there.

I can just report that filters, live and saved, work as expected on my Windows 7 machine.

Hi, Would you be able to send us your timeline to [email protected], with a description of the problem? We keep all information confidential and it will help us solve your problem. We don't have an iPad version yet, while we have started work on one it is only in the preliminary stages. Jess

Right, sorry -- I was thinking of Scrivner on the iPad. duh. Yes, I'll send you my file. I've probably done something wrong!

Hi, We have found what the problem was, apparently there is an issue using the filters on entities with brackets in their names. We will look into providing a fix for this in a future update, but in the meantime you might just have to edit your entity names so that they don't have brackets. Jess
