Display Life lines

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but I've just started using Aeon Timeline, and I'm trying to create a time line in which people's lifetimes are displayed as bars, so that I can see at a glance whether particular people are alive at the same time. Is there a way to do that?

Hi, At the moment there is no capability for this, however while not exactly what you want, Relationship View might be useful for you. If you click the "Manage Entities"button (people icon, or through the timeline menu) you can set birth and death dates for your characters you have created. Relationship view essentially shows the relationship between entities (eg. characters) and the events. When you click the intersection between an entity and event, a dropdown menu will allow you to choose which Role you want the Entity to perform for the given Event. (eg. whether your character is a participant or observer of that event). If you character has a birth and death date, this will display the age they are at this event or the time since their death. (Hover your mouse over the relationship to see which it is). I understand this is not exactly what you are looking for , however I thought it might be useful for you. We will consider whether to add functionality th at more properly implements what you are looking for in future updates. You can read more about Relationship View here: http://www.aeontimeline.com/support/relationship-view/ Jess

Thank you very much. I think that functionality would be very useful, especially for people doing historical work.

Hi, My apologies for my last response, as there actually is this functionality. If you have created characters with birth and death events, and then "Group by Character" (click the icon with multiple horizontal bars). This displays a bar at the top of each character showing when they were born and died, and you can line this up with events underneath. Again, sorry for the misleading information. Jess

Oh, thanks! I'll try that.
