I just changed an event to a different arc and that event disappeared so I'm sure the filter is set to an arc called “Flame's quest” but the filter area shows nothing is set.
This is a deliberate design choice, and one of the places the iPad version differs from the Desktop version: http://aeontimeline.helpscoutdocs.com/article/46-differences-between-desktop-and-ipad-apps Here is the support page listing how grouping works in iOS and how to get back to viewing all events: http://aeontimeline.helpscoutdocs.com/article/30-grouping-events-by-entity
I'm sorry I wasted your time with this one. I misunderstood this feature. Can I suggest a symbol beside the entity type (Arc, Character or place) when the left panel is collapsed to make it clear to the user. The bolding isn't enough of an indicator for someone who hasn't read the manual. PS Love the app.
No problem, not a waste of time, it just highlights things we need to think about making clearer in either UI or on boarding. We maintain the coloured line on the edge of the active element to try to highlight this. A more noticeable icon is an option we can consider, my only concern is minimising the space used by that left sidebar... There is a reason it has a collapsed mode! Would more obvious background tinting across the whole button be sufficient? That comes for free, space wise. Interested in other user's feedback on this one also.
What do you call that entity show/hide function, perhaps the Entity quick filter? There's a strip above the timeline for entering filters (which can be toggled on and off by tapping the funnel). Can the "Entity quick filter" thingy be shown there alongside the other filters? Thoughts?
