Is there anyway to show the person in the timeline witouht expanding the events? I really need to show only the event titile, year and person on the default timeline. Thanks,

Hi there, mmousann. I'm not sure whether you're using AT2 for project management or writing fiction, but I don't think it's possible to accomplish what you are after - other than to just use a naming convention which might look like "My Event Name - Person: Year". Of course, the problem with this approach is that it's a completely manual process. If you move an event to another year or have an event with multiple participants which may change, the titles could get unwieldy in length and difficult to maintain over time. The problem with AT2 doing any sort of automatic inclusion in the title of what you're calling "Person" is that there is no such thing at the core of the AT2 data. People are just entities and these entities are named differently, depending on what template or customization you're using. The Basic template calls them "Person". The project management template calls them "Employee". The fiction template calls them "Character". What you would need would be some sort of variable substitution where you could create config where you would define the di splay name for events with some sort of variable names like one would use with strings in any programming language. You have to be able to parse a list of entities as well as be able to use some sort of date string format notation, again likely one similar to what is used in programming languages like C or Unix shell commands, where you can display arbitrary parts of a date in any desired format. At any rate, there's no way to accomplish what you are requesting without new functionality from the developers to meet a more generic request of being able to radically customize the titles in an automated manner. The next author is likely to want the variables in a different order, or wants month plus year, wants locations instead of persons, etc...

Hi, rayzr is correct, there is no way to do this at the moment. We designed the program to give minimal information that every user would want (title + date) for non expanded events, and let the data displayed in the expanded events to be customisable. To make the non-expanded information customisable is something we might look at in the future. Jess

Thanks for all the inputs. I am using AT2 to make a timeline of the historical publications. Thus, in my case, it was necessary to have the "publication name - author - time" format. As you menstioned, I knew I could have done it by putting them manually. However, since there are many publications written by the same authors, it would be more appropriate to add a person as a variable to each event. Anyway, seeing your comments, now I know not possible to do so at this moment. I hope that AT will have some flexibility to have a custom format for the entry title in the timeline.
