Decrease font or layout to see more events?

Ach ... this forum interface is so non-standard !! My question: I would really like to see more of my tasks on my timeline. Is there a way to decrease the font size or put the date info on the same line as the event name? [Timeline](//muut.com/u/aeontimeline/s2/:aeontimeline:8vAc:timeline.jpg.jpg) Thanks.

Does thr zoom feature not do what you want?

Thanks, but no. That does the opposite. I see thirteen events in the above screenshot. Zooming makes some of them disappear off the side.

I'm not sure how far you want to zoom in, but try changing the value of Timeline Settings -> Range -> Zoom Limits -> From. It looks like you have it set to "Days". Try changing it to "Hours". You are currently zoomed in as far as allowed by your settings. Thus you are only able to zoom out. You can reduce the granularity further to hours, minutes or even seconds. You can also restrict how far out you can zoom. If your events are all compressed over a short time period, there's no reason to zoom out hundreds

I supposed I should have said, "You can INCREASE the granularity". Sorry. I haven't had my caffeine yet this morning.

I really shouldn't be allowed to post without first giving a blood sample to ensure I have sufficient caffeine levels. I really mangled my original response and managed to cut it off. Hopefully, there is enough there to point you in the right direction.

I meant zooming OUT.

I think we both totally misread the OP's question. Zooming addresses horizontal resolution only. I don't believe there is any way to adjust vertical layout elements. You can maximise the real estate at the top of the screen though if you: 1. Turn off the filter 2. Turn off toolbar display 3. Enter fullscreen mode (not just maximise window) You can use filters to remove any non-critical events from display for a particular view. You can use parent/child events to collapse component events for display if they are not needed for a particular view. If you don't absolutely need them, you can toggle "Show event dates" in the Display Settings. That will about double the number of events you are able to display vertically. Zooming out and having the font size decrease would very quickly lead to text that was not legible. If you really do need to see everything at once, try exporting the timeline as a .PNG graphic. You will see options there for controlling the scope of what events are included. That's about all the tricks I can think of.

Thanks, Razyr. You understood. Sorry I wasn't clear. Here's a mockup. Note that the smaller font allows me to see more events. The arrow shows a mockup of an event with the time info moved onto a single line. Compare this with the above version. Developers: Please consider allowing the user to choose a font for the timeline info. [Timeline2](//muut.com/u/aeontimeline/s2/:aeontimeline:qafb:timeline2.png.jpg)

Your suggestion is somewhat related to [the discussion we had recently](https://www.aeontimeline.com/forum/channel/#!/wish-list:titles-sometimes-start-on-s) with the Aeon team about titles appearing on the same line as the coloured bar. I suppose that was mostly about having a consistent view of all events in a display portal, but it also relates to vertical compression for maximising the number of displayed items.

"razyr1h! I think we both totally misread the OP's question. Zooming addresses horizontal resolution only. I don't believe there is any way to adjust vertical layout elements." razyr - You're correct. Oops!

Hi, There is one way currently to allow more events to appear in the vertical space of the timeline. In the Display Settings, you can set the "Size" value (which is a percentage). If you make this smaller, it will allow more events in view, however it is not exactly the same as decreasing the font for events, as it decreases the font size across the board (eg. in the inspector aswell). You can also turn off display of event dates in the Display Settings to save more room, however we understand that this won't be useful to some people. Jess

Perfect. That's exactly what I was looking for. I would have found it had it not been in the View menu. Allow one line per event, and I could see twice as many. Sometimes I like to get a overview. Thanks!

I would like the same thing, more options to adjust the lines vertically. Please add this as an enhancement request: Allow placing event dates in front or behind the item number, and to allow setting the font, fontsize, line height, and paragraph spacing (there is currently a lot of space lost between items/paragraphs). Doing all this, someone like me could adjust the view to show at least 50% more lines on the screen. Thanks, Bob
