Muut 1.5 – Branding and Single Sign-On (SSO)
Muut Inc • 2013-06-27
Today we are proud to announce two major new features to Muut, available as paid upgrades: Branding and Single Sign-On (SSO).
Since we launched in April, we have been overwhelmed with requests for new features. After working on this for 3.5 years we knew we needed to make the project public before being able to prioritize items on our roadmap, or add others we might have overlooked.
What we didn’t expect was the sheer volume of the feedback. Our own forums, inboxes, Twitter, and Facebook have been bombarded with questions, ideas, wishes, and requests for new features. Some of which we planned to include very soon after launch and some that we decided to do after seeing so many people asking for them.
We’d like to thank all our users for the interest and the overwhelming response Muut has received, and we sincerely hope these paid features are able to answer some of your needs.
So, without further ado — welcome Branding and SSO!
Branding subscription (USD10.00 per month) allows you to add your logo and brand color to parts of Muut which are not customizable with css:
- Email notifications and confirmations (new user registration, email and password change)
- Authentication dialogues
- Static SEO pages
Administrators can customize branding directly from the forums by clicking “Settings” link from the right and clicking the “Branding” tab. From there, you can upload your logo and set your desired brand color.
Single Sign-On subscription ($20.00) allows users to login to Muut using a site-wide authentication system. You can use your existing user database, and the users will only need to log into your site once to be able to post on Muut forums.
Muut Single Sign-On is a completely transparent solution, allowing you to configure the client with any possible user data. This user data is hashed on the server with a private key that only forum administrators can access. This is a simple, yet flexible way of implementing a global authentication system. There is no need to register with Muut separately, and no user data gets collected or stored on Muut servers.
