Hello My son is 7 years old, I have always found parenting him challenging but I'm struggling to accept he may have ADHD as not sure if the behaviours he displays are typical boy behaviour. My fear is of him being labelled more than he already is. I guess I'm trying to find out the positives and negatives of getting a diagnosis. I want to help him not hinder him, I guess like everyone on here I want the best for him. Thanks x

Welcome to the course! Once you start reading the articles on here you'll get a better idea of whether or not it is ADHD. However, getting a diagnosis is, in my eyes, a good thing IF your child has ADHD. Without a DX he is likely to be labelled as naughty/lazy/trouble/dreamy etc. At least when you KNOW there is a medical issue behind his behaviour, you and his school etc can start finding strategies that work. Schools can also sometimes get funding for extra support when a child has a diagnosis. Even if your son doesn't have ADHD, if his behaviour is challenging you'll find lots of tips and advice to help improve things for him and you. Good luck!
