Offical ADHD diagnosis?

Good evening, my little girl had blood work done last week, the paediatrician said this was to rule out other conditions that may mimic adhd, apparently its to ensure she gets the correct diagnosis, however i bumped into a friend the other week who's son has ADHD and never had blood work done to rule anything out. It has got me thinking now, anyone heard of this before????

Sounds very sensible and probably more kids should have it! ADHD can't be proved by any sort of blood test but there have been kids with other issues, eg hearing problems, sight problems, thyroid problems who have been misdiagnosed with ADHD ... so it's a good sign that your paediatrician is being so thorough.
