Sync>Settings (not opening)

I'm new to the wonderful relationship that is Aeon Timeline 2 and Scrivener, but I have ran into two issues with the most pressing being what I listed in the title: Sync>Settings not opening This began after I removed two duplicate custom metadata fields from Scrivener (unsure how they duplicated). Any assistance would be most appreciated.

I stepped through everything I did when I initially set up the sync settings and think I have identified the original cause for duplication, but am unsure how to fix it. However, I can't get settings to come back up to fix it so that will have to wait. I think what caused the duplication was the following: - Custom metafields had been set up in Scrivener already - When I set the Sync Settings, everything worked perfectly other than two fields (Event Participants/Observers). - For these two fields, I only had the options of None or Add Custom - When I chose "Add Custom" it allowed me to then add the previously set up fields from Scrivener (Event Participants and Event Observers) - When I went back into Scrivener, there were duplicates of these two fields - So I deleted them - Haven't been able to open settings in Aeon Timeline 2 since this Hope this series of events helps identify the issue(s). This is looking like some sort of corrupted preferences/fields, etc. - any thoughts would be appreciated on both fronts (why the need for "Add Custom" in the first place and why the Sync Settings won't open now)

Hi, The most likely reason that there was no option to sync with your existing Scrivener metadata fields is due to the "Wrap Text" on the custom metadata fields in Scrivener. For Participants/Observers to sync to a field in Scrivener, this field needs to have the "Wrap Text" function turned on. If not, it won't recognise it as a field it can sync to. This would be the first thing to check to debug this. Are you able to send through your timeline and Scrivener project to [email protected] ? This will help us debug the reason for the other problem (the sync settings window not opening) You are able to reset all the syncing information in Aeon Timeline by going Sync->Manage Projects and deleting the project that the timeline is synced to. This might solve your problem, however it will reset all of your syncing information.. Jess

Jess, The files were too large to email so I shared them via Dropbox Share to the email listed in your message. I also put a link to this thread inside the Share message for context. Thank you in advance for your assistance! JDH

FWIW, I just ran into the same issue. I'd been syncing back and forth, sync settings was working great, then I manually edited some of the text in Scrivener, and now clicking Sync->Settings... in Aeon Timeline no longer opens a dialog. I do have the Scrivener project open in Aeon Timeline. If I can narrow down the cause, I'll post here.

@blindsight - they found there is an issue that needs to be addressed in the next release/patch. In the meantime, they adjusted my file directly to fix it. On a side note, I have a separate issue of two specific fields not showing any options from Scrivener for matching (Event Participant/Observer). Have you experienced this as well? All other fields seem to be working that I have tested.

Disregard my last about the fields. It is working once I deleted and remade the fields in Scrivener. Must have been a corruption issue.

Hi blindsight, If you email us your timeline at [email protected] we can look into the problem for you and hopefully fix your file. One thing to check - at the moment there can be a problem if you have a colon ':' in your custom metadata field name. Jess
