I'm female, age 63 next birthday and have multiple disabilities. Major ones are bilateral torn rotator cuffs, frozen shoulder and tibial neuropathy- the latter causes me to have falls due to nerve damage to my foot. KIdney disease, PTSD , depression, anxiety, hypertension, botched knee replacement. I haven't worked for 37 years, so have no qualifications or references. 16 months ago, my spouse retired and was granted the age pension and I was placed on Newstart. I was given a Centrelink "medical assessment over the phone by a occupational therapist located a very long way from where we live. After medical certificate ran out I was sent to a Jobactive agency. After 3 visits ,they informed me that they didn't want me there as I am too high risk and referred me back to Centrelink for a face to face "medical assessment." This time the assessment was done by a psychologist. Psychologist had a list of my disabilities and medical conditions and had to ask me what some of them were as they didn t know ! The psychologist referred me to apply for the DSP, which I did and wasn't successful. Then I was sent back to Jobactive agency who sent me to a DES provider located out of my area ( despite my protestations) and was a round trip of 40klm. Mind you, I live 2klm from my town where 2 DES providers are located. Something is wrong when you can't access your local DES !! After numerous visits to the far away DES (never getting past reception and getting letters to attend non existent appointments) I got transfer papers which I lodged at my local DES providers. At one, they wanted to know my age- something I found dodgy. After a few weeks and 2 more visits to far away DES provider I finally got accepted at one of my local DES providers. The day after signing me up and informing me I have to look for 15 hours work, I get an email from them with a link to a toatally unsuitable job they suggested I could apply for. It was full time window cleaning. No abseiling but working at heights up to 11 metres and wanted someone fit and healthy.I couldn't physically do the job and don't know how to apply without a resume/ work history/ references any way. I find it pretty pathetic that in 16 months I haven't got the help to do something basic as putting together a resume.
