This would require that you lived near one of these farms. The last time I checked, the expected maximum travel time to get to a job (according to Centrelink) was one and a half hours. This is the total travel time using public transport, not "get into a car and drive for 1.5 hours". It looks like this plan would affect only a tiny minority of job seekers and is probably one of the reasons the government wants to try to force new migrants to live outside the capital cities.
Also if you have part-time mutual obligations the maximum time you can be asked to travel is 60 minutes
We need real jobs, not just the pickings.
Having a think about this, it may only apply to those who live in rural or remote areas, who don't have access to regular Work for the Dole activities, but I'm sure Jobactive agencies will take advantage of this. I can just see agencies in the suburbs trying to send anyone they can to farms just so they can get all that dosh from the government.
If you scroll down the bottom of the channel 9 page that news article is on and read all the other reports on Centrelink it's all negative and only one story on somebody struggling. The media need to stop using headlines like DOLE BLUDGERS and be corrected. Tired of media and the government stereotyping all people on welfare
