I use hypafix (available on amazon). At one point I had to start night with tape on all edges, and even then I would occasionally have small leaks in morning. A thread on CPAPtalk.com, talked about stepping up skin prep for oily skin using both an astringent and skin-prep wipes. Made HUGE difference!!! I don't do preemptive taping at all now. Ocassionally I will wake up now with a small leak I patch with hypafix, but I can't remember the last time, it's been at least a month.
Thank you! I will check it out. I use witchhazel before applying the ports, but it is hit or miss. Last night within an hour the adhesive in one area came loose, even though I added extra tape throughout. But I will look into the hypafix. Thanks!
Sounds like me. I must have above average oily skin. I tried a ton of different products, including DreamPreps, alcohol wipes, a couple of different skin preps. Could not get through a nite without a major leak forming, sometime multiple leaks. I considered giving up on "bleeps" more than once!! Wasn't until I tried an astringent and skin preps together (let them dry in between) that things started to click. Now dreamports stick so well, I have to be careful not to gouge my skin when I go to remove them in the morning. I will sometimes get a leak, but it's getting rarer. Maybe your problem is different, and this won't help. Good luck!!!!!!
I ordered the hypafix on Amazon. I think the biggest issue for me is that once things start to leak, it is a major undertaking - to get up, turn on the lights, look in the mirror and work with it. As a result, I often just trade out for my Dreamwear mask. When Bleep works, it is absolutely brilliant! I love it and hope maybe the hypafix will help. Thanks for your input!
