Some people become very superstitious about raising puppies. For instance, "Since a child dropped a glass when the dog was about 5 weeks old, it became sound sensitive." The truth is that dog would have probably become sound sensitive anyway because of its genetics. Instead someone or something was blamed. I hear this a lot about the dogs gripping behavior on the sleeve or its low drive.
There are things that handlers can do to warp puppies and their behaviors, but some things are purely genetic. People that have young dogs need to ask a lot of questions from people with dogs they admire. Make sure they raised that dog from a puppy. If you aren't asking questions, you are going to learn from mistakes. Better to learn from somebody else's mistake than repeat it unknowingly.
