Time on the Field

Many people that start coming out for protection see me work their dogs for maybe 3-5 bites and go away wondering if I'm being lazy, ripping them off or if their dog is no good. The reason I work them with such quick burst is because there is a formula I use called, "Time plus energy equals drive peak." In other words I want to quit while the dog wants the bite, and the drive is at its highest peak. Remember we're training, not entertaining. I do feel bad when someone drives 3 hours and I give their dog 3 bites, but I'm always doing it for the good of the dog.
