A lot of people think we must have excellent tracking here in my area with all the agriculture around, but it is not so. Finding a fallow field and then getting permission is a headache. I spent days finding tracking for the August trial and have been driving 45min. to track my own dogs. The problem with using only dirt tracking is that dogs too quickly learn to site track. Most of the fields in big competitions are usually not in dirt, but grass. So I think it is important to track in grass as well if you are looking to compete in big events and whether you do or not, be aware of tracking that may be too easy and your dog is sighting it.
