“/etc/init.d/clearcase start “ hangs pipes

I recently was informed by an Unix (Solaris 11 x86) administrator that he tried the following /etc/init.d/clearcase start | cat –n # or /etc/init.d/clearcase start | tee /tmp/clearcase.txt The above will hang until a Control-C is issued. He "suspects that the parent process file descriptors are not being properly closed before ClearCase forks child processes". Has anyone come across this? Any input on this? Thanks, Boyd
