Loved the film. It was one of the scripts I haven't read, so the ending was unexpected for me - very touching! Loved the picture and grading and actors are good and believable. Well done!
I hadn't read the script, which made watching this film a complete discovery. I was left with tears in my eyes! The sequence between the man and the girl is so powerful in its simplicity, the young lady radiates beauty and the man compassion. It's beautiful. Good luck to you all.
I haven't rad this script, but I love the filmed. So moving, and to see the young girl smiling like that at the end of the world was wonderful
Thank you all for your lovely comments!
Wow, that’s incredible. I loved the film! Everything was good. I really loved the moment between the guy and the girl. Good job to you all.
Paul and team, wow, this is absolutely gorgeous. It's filled with heart and positivity. As others have said, the girl smiling is so moving. The interaction of the rugby player and this sweet young woman who's been left leaves you tearful but happy. It warms the cockles of your heart and the audience for the whole film will need moments like this. It's short, simple and powerful. Huge well done.
Oh I love this. Big, burly, blokey blokes showing such warmth and tenderness. Very original too.
I wouldn't change a thing. It's a beautiful short film. You guys did a great job.
This is lovely. I thought it was going to be a rugby lads last jape and it turned into something moving with them helping the girl.
This is a lovely "feel good" movie. The camaraderie between the players is convincing and makes it believable that they'd take the abandoned girl with them. What a fine young actor she is - best performance I've seen in the films I've reviewed so far. The music kicks in at just the right point. A fine film that left me wanting more.
Hi Paul Here's what's working for me: nearly everything, it's a nice upbeat movie and the 'two-beer' journey set up and pay-off is brilliant! There's one moment at about 23/24 seconds that jars me when he says 'bring it with you *cut* take the edge off' - I understand what he's saying but it feels like there's a word missing or has been merged? A solid film and a great demonstration of why a script is only ever the blueprint even one as good as Richard's! David
Hi David, thanks very much. The moment you mention should be 'Bring it with, it'll take the edge off'. I agree it's a bit clumsy but I had to do that cut mostly for timing purposes. I'll see if I can tweak it so the words are clearer. Glad you like it, and incidentally the 'two beer journey' thing is something my old rugby team did at Away games (mostly on the way back!) :p P.
Hey Paul - I don't know if you've seen today's blog, but Chris has again said that the "hard two minute limit" is a myth, so if you need a couple of seconds or so in order that a line of dialogue can be heard more clearly, I hope you will take them.
WHAT I LIKED - I honestly found this film to be superb on many levels! - Great location and opening shot - Well shot and edited - I really feel the camaraderie among the teammates and it’s great that you had proper shirts with the logo - Love the shot at 0:47 just before the reveal - very cleverly staged - Acting is very believable - especially the girl, who puts in an amazing performance. I love it when she says “two beer journey”... great moment and delivery! - I love that the ball is inscribed with the initials EVR! Small touches like that go a long way - I really feel strongly that the Impact50 needs more lighter moments like this film offers - great job THINGS TO CONSIDER - I’m not even sure you need the very first establishing shot… I think it would work well just starting with him asleep in bed. The stuff all over the floor of the word is not really necessary to show? - I honestly don’t have any other notes. I really liked this film!
Loved this! Convincing camaraderie amongst the players, and the smile between the rugby player and the girl brings a welcome feel-good moment amongst all the end-of-the-world despair. Well done all!
Fantastic film. I wouldn't change a thing!
I loved this. Big burly blokes showing their human side. The girl is brilliant and her smile says it all. Great film.
I liked the other film, but this just knocks it out of the park - fabulous!
