the font, icons, color scheme, most of the features are too noisy for my sensitive little brain. I vote no on all of this
I miss the old forum :'( Guess I can't complain, I haven't been around much lately.
^^^^ WUT?!?!?! he hath risen
@mike_m hiya buddy!
I miss you bae
Square Space much?
Not complaining just recognizing lol
So much white space, my eyes are over here freaking out on me. Just read the post about switching back... If it's still up in the air and we stay here, I hope another color scheme is considered.
now you're a part of it!
This layout reminds me of discus.
What was the point of updating it?
It looks ugly. The dark color was good. This just looks like an attempt to look modern. It's too spacey. Also, the forum was perfectly fine. Upgrade what? What exactly are you upgrading? The forum was fine.
Some hippie program fuck probably recommended Duncan he needed an upgrade. OH IM FUMING
OH COOL! WE HAVE A CAMERA ICON!!! OH COOL NOTIFICATIONS EVERY 2 FUCKIN MINUTES. OH COOL PINK REPLY BUTTON
I'm officially joining the backlash _to the backlash_ . I think it's kinda neat and worth a shot. Y'all whining that it's "retarddit" or a "comments section" aren't actually illustrating why either of those things are so terrible. In the end it's a place to communicate and with some tweaks I think this could be pretty decent. Certainly it's worth a fuckin _day_.
That's what Stalin told Russia, just try it for a day, comrades. Next thing you know, pogroms.
WHAT WOULD ORGONE DO. 12-12-12 never forget. He died for our sins.
It's actually not all that bad to be honest, you have all the regular forum functionality albeit implemented a little differently. You can quote, you can send private messages. If you want to see the earliest posts in a thread you click the top half of the pink and blue speech bubble thing, likewise if you want to see the latest posts you click the bottom half. The only thing that's really missing is being notified that you've been quoted or if someone is @'ing you, but that's a feature missing from a lot of forums and the old forum was the only one I've used that has it. I think it's kind of cool that this forum allows you to see when someone is responding to a thread, I think that has the potential to keep a forum more active if you know someone is likely responding to you at that point in time, plus you never have to refresh so that's pretty cool. The layout is a little clunky but it just takes some getting used to, you do have a "my feed" tab that shows any threads that you've posted in which could come in handy. I don't see too many problems with it, it's just dif ferent that's all. It is a bit garish however with it being completely white, the darker look of the old forum was a lot better. Overall this forum looks more modern, has a few modern features but you sacrifice the simple yet solid navigation the old forum provided and ofcourse the best feature of all which is notifications. It's too bright, looks a little too minimalistic in my opinion and the fact that you have to click images to load them and likely the same deal with youtube vids etc makes it feel a little disjointed. I like seeing images and videos embedded in a post, personally I think it's dumb to click them and I hate that about reddit. While I prefer the old forum I don't think this is as shit as it's made out to be, I thought so at first but I just didn't know how to quote someone or go to the earliest posts in a thread and read from there, now I've worked out how to do that it doesn't seem as bad. I do understand why a lot of people hate it though, because there really wasn't anything wrong with the old forum functionality wise, it just had a somewhat outdated appearance. If you could implement some of the newer features here on a layout such as the old forum, like seeing someone replying and not needing to refresh then it'd be great, but as of now I think it's not necessarily how "bad" this forum actually is, it's just how different everything not only looks but functions that have got people worked up. Oh yeah and mobile functionality does suck, quoting is a tedious affair for instance. Using a mobile to browse might be ok but when you want to "get into it" it's a lot more difficult.
It's the look. Reading this page feels like trying to find your car keys in a messy apartment that isn't yours
I already accidentally posted in the wrong thread. Haha
