And besides using the regen capability with the prop, maybe consider adding a mountable (and removable as needed) vertical wind prop to capture additional power? While it may not be needed, it could be a "plan B" or a "plan C" when there's not enough sun.

Unfortunately wind power is not very efficient on a sailboat for a multitude of reasons. A sailboat is typically either under sail or in a protected anchorage. Under sail the apparent wind on the generator is typically halved due to the boat moving in the direction of the wind at roughly half the wind speed. Also, depending on the mounting location and wind direction, the sails can block the wind from hitting the turbine. In an anchorage, if it is an ideal anchorage it will have excellent protection from the wind. Then there's cost efficiency. Wind is actually quite expensive. Generally well over $2 per watt. whereas solar panels can be had for under $1 per watt. The wind isn't always around meaning sometimes a wind turbine will generate 0 energy whereas a good solar panel will sometimes even generate a small amount of electricity from moonlight. Wind also requires more maintenance and is more prone to error. For instance if your batteries are fully charged and you don't have an adequate diversion load, the turbine can spin too fast and damage the bearings or burn w indings when a load is suddenly applied. The heat from an overspeed turbine can also damage the magnets inside some types of wind generators. The only reason to remove well mounted solar panels in a hurricane is to reduce heeling caused by the added windage of the panels. Wind turbines absolutely will not survive a hurricane whereas many panel brands are actually guaranteed to survive 100+ mph winds.

So what happened to your solar panels then? I need to have some installed. But I know literally nothing about it. Not even how much it costs.

No wonder. Because people tend to hide information rather to disclose it. For example, recently I also wanted to find out more about solar panels and energy, and people suggested that I should sign some form and submit my personal data to get it. How stupid! Only [over here](https://solarsystems.reviews/) I managed to find all the information I need. So you must go there too.
