That option, once saved it stays so you don't need to fiddle all the time with settings.
Setting the origin (either with the shortcut key 'O' or from menu Edit -> Set Origin) will set it for all loaded objects at once.
ok thanks something odd, I etched the bottom layer with 8.5, then the top layer with 8.96, the feed rate(althought set the same) seems so slow
It depends what feedrate you set. The X-Y feedrate or the Z feedrate (Plunge). Are you working in INCH or MM?
feedrate x-y, I use min eagle also I exported holes a couple of time and now for no apparent reason, the latest export get scaled like 10 times ...wtf ??? is this a known bug ? I did not even change anything related to size nor scale nor metrics
I tried to set the export metric to mm, still the same
feedrate x-y, I use mm in eagle
And in FlatCAM?
Pay attention on what you are doing. If you set the TZ in Default Zeros so you can load Excellon files generated by Eagle, then it stands to reason to set the Export setting the same. I bet you exported with the default settings which is LZ. And when you load the exported file ... bang it is 10 times more. Solution: Before exporting go to: Edit -> Preferences -> Excellon -> Excellon Export and set the Zeros parameter to TZ. Save and then try again to export the Excellon file and load it. It will work.
now I reopened the drill gerber and it's scaled too small compared to the rest, wtf ??? I keep changing the excellon metrix, nothing changes, still the same, when I import it is way too small I am gonna stop that beta version for now, its loaded with bugs I click on properties, the program crashes too
I had set it to TZ too but I dont reload what I create in flatcam to flatcam I load to bcnc is there a setting that say the edited excellion should be bigger when exiting the editor ? it asks to save it, so it must be scaling it on save
I guess it's better for you to use FlatCAM 8.5. FlatCAM 8.9x require that you know what are doing. I acknowledge that the lack of documentation can create issues but until a final version is issued I can't do any just to see it changed in a few days. Know that if you take the time to experiment a bit, reading the ToolTips, eventually you'll get the hang of it. Until then, don't waste your time ... My 2 cents.
ok no problem, but if I could only set the scale when exiting the editor, then problem solved
I just made a modification so whenever the user is changing the values in Edit -> Preferences -> Excellon -> Excellon General - Excellon Format, the values found in the Excellon Export will be updated accordingly. The reason is that the user expects to be able to load the exported file in the same way it loaded it before loading it the first time. I guess this will solve some of the issues.
oooh so you're the dev ??! I am generaly used to do the dev, doing bug corrections after the testers have passed, now it's the other way around :-) thx mate fyi: clicking on properties crashes the software sometimes if you need any log, just let me know if they are available somewhere
Just wasting my time for the past year and so creating the beta :) The program author is JP Caram. I've recently modified the Help -> About FlatCAM popup and I will include everybody who is adding something new in the Programmers/Translators section. You are welcome to join, too :) There are logs but you need to run the software from command line. Which means you have to install Python toolchain and all the required packages. But at the least you could look in the Tcl Shell, see the message that is displayed there and post it here.
any easy way to install python tool chain ?
just changed all units to mm, the cnc etched through the wood under the pcb :-( while in eagle, switching inch->mm keeps the same sizes, it just changes numbers in flatcam, all numbers appear converted but it messes up the export, which makes no sens
what really is weird is that the size of the pcb is respected, but not the Z-depth maybe due to the fact that I changed the preferences to mm after importing my gbr files (?)
Sorry Phil, I'm not a native English speaker and you lost me in the logic of what you explained above. Can you make it a bit more clear for me, like having an ordered succession of the steps you followed so I can reproduce the issue? Attaching some of the files that you used (if possible) might help, too.
