Looking for FlatCAM Translators

Hello All, I am readying for the final build of *FlatCAM beta 9.0* and it will be nice to have translations done for as many of the major languages as possible. At the moment the translations done by native speakers and who are maintained are: - Portuguese - Brasilian -> by Carlos Stein - Russian -> by Andrey Kultyapov - Romanian -> me I am looking for people who wants to contribute to FlatCAM, people who wants to pitch in in the effort that was put into getting what is FlatCAM today. The easiest way is to help with translations. The reward is that you'll know that you've done something for other people and create joy in their hearts but also you'll mentioned in the new "About FlatCAM" window found in the FlatCAM menu -> Help -> "About FlatCAM" Right now I've helped to further this translation effort by contributing with the Romanian translation and also Google-translating for German and for Spanish languages. If there any who cares to do the corrections, they are welcomed. Also I am looking for translators for: Italian, French etc The way for you to modify the S panish and German translations is by downloading the strings.PO files in the dedicated folder from the FlatCAM beta source files. E.g: root-flatcam-folder\locale\es\LC_MESSAGES\strings.PO for the ES (Spanish translation) For that you can download the source files from here: https://bitbucket.org/jpcgt/flatcam/get/Beta.zip This file you load into the Open-Source program named PoEdit: https://poedit.net/download And then you start translating. CTRL + SHIFT + Down Arrow will get you to the next not-translated string. In the end you save and you will get two files: strings.PO string.MO Both are needed but once done and the translation is at 100% let me know on this forums and we'll find a way to send them to me. Or even better, you fork (clone) the FlatCAM repository and then you make a pull request with the changes. Thank you guys, I am waiting for your feedback.

Well Massimiliano, For you is just a 27 strings job. But there may be more on the way... :)

In this case I will wait for the "definitive" strings. Just let me know when it's all ready for translation.

Hi, Marius and company. I'm very interested in FlatCAM (for importing SVG to drive my CNC 3018) but I am on Ubuntu ( lacking python3-pyqt4 ), aware that flatcam.org is not on HTTPS (and Google Chrome will increasingly crack down on non-HTTPS). Is there any initiative to address these (e.g. migrate to Qt5, use LetsEncrypt) and can I help in any way? Looks like such an amazing project and a shame to suffer from the fate of unmaintained projects. Sorry to hijack a translation thread let me know if there's another 'contributions' thread I can join.

Hi @cefn, Thank you for the offer to help. This website is owned by JP Caram and therefore he is the one that can make the changes. But time is now a luxury for everyone and he may not have enough for upgrading the website. Luckily, there are other browsers up there that may be usable. I for one I'm stopping the usage of Chrome and it's offspring's. Regarding of using FlatCAM in Linux, a while back I've created a port of the Master branch to PyQt5, it's here: https://bitbucket.org/jpcgt/flatcam/branch/old_flatcam_pyqt5 You could try it, it might work (I haven't checked it for a while since I'm not really interested in maintaining this old version). Or if you like, you can use the FlatCAM version that I've made and maintained. It's the Beta version (Python 3.x + PyQt5): https://bitbucket.org/jpcgt/flatcam/branch/Beta Or if you are feeling brave (there are bugs and features not finished) this is my "cooking pot" (Python 3.x + PyQt6): https://bitbucket.org/marius_stanciu/flatcam_beta/branch/Beta_8.995 You can help by making a translation if your language is not in t he supported languages (Spanish and Russian also needs maintainers/reviewers). Or you can check for bugs, offer ideas for improvements...

Hi Massimiliano, You can update the translation whenever you feel ready for it. After all, the more you solve to day, the less for next time.

Hello Mehmet, You may need to delete the Preferences files. I am changing things there. If you only click the Apply Language button then the modification is temporary. If you change language then click Apply and then click Apply Language then the language choice should be permanent.

Sun, 20 Feb 2022 15:36:36 GMT

Unfortunately, the language change is not permanent.

Ok I've seen the problem after deleting my own preferences files. Please open an Issue on the Bitbucket Issue tracker. Thanks!
