Rangemaster Power Supply

There has been talk elsewhere of replacing the stock Rangemaster power supply with a non-switching wall wart. Presumably, the stock power supply, which for me was a Thinkpad adapter, might be noisy and unsuitable for the transmitter. But I want to assure anyone purchasing a Rangemaster that the stock power supply is fine. Since putting the transmitter into service several months ago, my Rangemaster has been sonically clean. Any noise I've been experiencing has been environmental noise from around the house that gets into the radio receivers. But when I get into a car and travel away from the house, the signal from my Rangemaster is loud and clean. So I advise anyone who is considering a Rangemaster to work with the stock power adapter first before tossing it for something else or even a more expensive solution like a surge protector with an AC line RFI filter.

There was a problem with the noise in the PS several years ago. I recall a couple of my customers (sold a Rangemaster to each of them) mentioned a problem. I think Keith has made some changes either in the transmitter or with the kind of PS he was using and now it should not be a problem.
