My son has always attended public school. The last two years - 6th and 7th grade have been very difficult for him due to bullying. He is currently taking Algebra I as a 7th grader at his middle school. We have filed the paperwork to have him home schooled to remove him from this middle school. We were told that he could take his math class at the high school as long as we understood that he could not receive credit. We were fine with that. We only need him to receive the instruction in this one area as we do not feel confident to do that. However, now the school is saying that we have to register him as a ninth grader and he will still have to graduate in four years from now. This will make him graduate a year ahead of his peers. We are not ready for him to do that and neither is he. Has anyone else faced this dilemma? Are there any laws addressing this issue? Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.
