Maybe find a "funk bass" preset. I'm running effects on the laptop right now and the best envelope filter I've found is a free VST effect called Topaz filter. I called up the funk bass preset and tweaked the settings and it works nice on tenor. I was also experimenting with pitch to MIDI, you can hear a bit of both in this crude test clip I did... https://youtu.be/me9rYTAVNXI
if I was shopping for an envelope filter pedal, I'd definitely want to check out the MXR Bass Envelope Filter. Seems to have that classic sound that would work great on a sax.
I’ve had fantastic success with the 3 Leaf Audio Wonderlove for my trombone. Make sure it’s early in your chain, also they are finicky with compressors as well. Hope this helps
You will laugh but I come back to an old Mini Qtron and it works great. Sounds great, easy to dial and small price. Just think to put a compressor after to adjust the sound.
Late to the party, but I also like the mini Qtron. Yes, it benefits from being early in the chain -- first, actually -- and from having a compressor downstream.
