Woodwind mic choice?

I play the family of recorders in a variety of environments, (relatively quiet, acoustic, as well as loud, amplified blues jam sessions with multiple guitars, saxes, brass, bass and drums, etc...), and currently use a Shure SM-57 mic feeding my pedal board chain... Despite using a cardioid pick-up pattern, dynamic mic, while playing in amplified ensembles, I invariably deal with ambient noise/feedback issues, such that I often "ride" the gain of the chain in order to maintain a balance between being heard and avoiding ambient, (read bass and/or kick drums), low frequency feedback issues... It has been suggested that not only is the Telefunken M-81 dynamic cardioid/super-cardioid(?) mic signficantly/AUDIBLY a superior mic to the SM-57, but that is possess superior ambient noise rejection properties... Has anyone experience regarding the M-81 mic, (which is a flatter, somewhat "darker" and "meatier" mic than the Telefunken M-80 vocal mic)...?... The M-81 has been described as being rather "condenser like" in sonic qualities...and YES, certainly I would like to more accurately capture the true sound of my recorder, without accentuating it's inherent wind-noise, however, I am not able to obtain indwelling micro-condenser mics for all my recorders, and would like a mic with which I can switch recorders on the fly...(and however nice the DPA instrument mics ARE, they are a bit steep for my budget... :-( ... I welcome you experience/insight/input!
