During field trip planning discussions at our March meeting, there was some conversation about funding mechanisms that could be used for treatments on non-Forest lands. Wendy Green [gathered some information about that and would like to pass it on to you](http://le.sitekreator.com/Tools/file_direct_link.html?id=ODc4MzY0LDEwMDU0NTM4MQ) . This ties nicely to our plan to have a robust discussion about Shared Stewardship in June with Peg Polichio.

The Wyden Amendment authorizes the use federal funds to treat private lands for Watershed or wildlife habitat improvement or public safety. The exact quote from this NIFC document is “ Projects that protect, enhance, or restore resources within a watershed and provide tangible benefits to achieving federal land management and public safety goals and objectives associated with natural disasters are allowable under Wyden.” https://ftp.nifc.gov/public/incident_specific_data/southern/Georgia/07_Big_Turnaround/BAER/HYDRO/Appendix%20E%20Okefenokee%20Wyden.doc
