New to the group (long time EP fangirl). I am a wanna-be ultra runner trying to tackle the sport in the healthiest way possible. Currently suffering from some gnarly shin splints in both legs and wondering if anyone has any insider tips or tricks for a faster recovery? Currently loving on the contrast baths and getting a lot of manual release therapy from my PT! Thanks in advance :)

Hey! Great to have you on board sarah!!! Sorry about your shin splints. Have you had a run gait analysis? I'd definitely look to form as a primary cause. Also if you're not transitioning to minimal shoes yet, I'd SLOWLY get started on that in order to develop better proprioception and form (and likely less impact on that lower anterior leg). Inflammation in the body, often from diet, can be at play too and certainly can hinder repair. The Sock Doc, my guru on this kinda stuff, also believes root causes can be overtraining and too much stress (all kinds of stress). Lots to think about right?! What does your PT say? LMK your thoughts!
