Store apps are UWP (Universal Windows Programs). UWP's have limitations that don't play well on the desktop. For instance, drag and drop file open is not supported generally. The deployment model of the store is appealing but the restrictions it imposes on applications is not welcome in this case.
Well then I have good news for you. Drag and drop is supported and there is a porting bridge codnamed Centennial, you can find more info here : <https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bridges/desktop > With this bridge you can basically convert the app installer to an .appx file. You can distribute it in the store and here at the same time and it is not a UWP from scratch. It is the same app just packaged differently. This way you can find many new users and like some opensource projects do, you can sell the store version for the people wanting the convenience of the store version. :)
