In my 1981 300TD, which has the W123 designation, there is insufficient room between the center console and the front seats to fit what you have pictured. So this cupholder won't work.

I purchased a cop holder for my W123 sedan from SBaxter65@gmail.com. The cupholder fits nicely into the center console and is made of wood with a Zebrano finish. Holds two cups plus a change holder. Nice piece. I think I paid around $65 plus shipping. The maker is located in Orange County, Southern California.

J, yes, it won't fit even with the thin part shown in the photo. There is barely one inch of space between the seat and the center console in W123 cars. Bill seems to have found a good solution described above. Use that instead.

Ive got a design coming out shortly. Im working with a guy who builds custom guitars. Hes making me cup holders that fit into the center console. It will be zebrano wood w/ options for single or dual cup holders as well as USB. Ill have pics soon.
