Damage to SL 560

I have a 1987 SL which I've been told is probably a very nice driver with 87k original miles and I believe original paint. Ironically, the very same place I store the car allowed a golf cart to cause damage to front end. The fender can be repaired with only a quarter size dent but paint and pinstripe will have to be worked on or blended in that area. The body shop has recommended bumper be replaced and plastic areas of left headlamp but cannot guarantee match to right side. Insurance company will not pay to match the plastic headlight parts on right side to drivers side. Are these cars of this vintage and nice condition starting or believed to be increasing in value? Does owner have an argument against liability insurance carrier for damages beyond parts and labor for decline in value. If so, how does one present this "before and after value?" How does one quantify this? Do you just repair the car with a reputable body shop and drive and be happy?Any ideas would be appreciated!! WG

Quite often small dents/dings can be repaired without paint work. You may want to check in to “paint less dent repair” in your area. Good luck.

I had a dent repaired on my W201 with the "paint less dent repair and it was so good that I no longer remember where the dent was. As for your other questions, I would suggest you check with the MB Classic Center in California as those are questions they can help you with. Good luck and keep us posted.
