I called a shop and they automatically assumed project car when I mentioned 1979 450SL roadster

Have you tried contacting someone from the Fort Worth section? They may have some shop recommendations.

If you're not able to find someone soon, try the following: When driving around your neighborhood, keep your eyes peeled for an older Mercedes in fine shape. If you see the driver, ask him where he gets his car fixed. If the driver is not there, leave a note on the car's windshield. People who have succeeded in finding a good shop are pleased to recommend it. Personal recommendation is still the best way to find a good shop.

Well, Rick & Rays Auto Plaza in Ft Worth was friendly enough but I would not go back there again. Kept my car for 3 months, didn’t solve the ac problem for $1,800 plus spent, to be fair this car has some sort of aftermarket mod for airflow that no one can explain. I got my car back dirty inside, 2 blown fuses for fuse 1 and 12, the battery box left open in the trunk. I was told it would be cleaned and washed before we picked it up.
