What is Nano Skin?

There was an article in one of our local magazines about getting all the “Colorado muck” off our cars. It was written by the owner of a detailing service here in Durango. The author mentions “nano skins” as a alternative to clay bar, and in fact one he likes better! He says it removes the “scratchies” better from exterior clear coat than clay bar and is available at all three of our local auto parts stores. I have never heard of this stuff. Have any of you ever used it? If so, how did it work for you?

Nanoskin is a trade name for automotive detailing products. All of their products are listed with description on Amazon.

Not sure what scratchies are, but clay bar does not remove scratches. It removes debris on the surface of the paint. In fact, clay bar can create scratches if not used properly, i.e. not enough lube or too much pressure). I have heard of alternatives to clay bar in the form of a pad or glove. But scratch removal is not the purpose.

I couln't see how any claybar type product could remove scratches in clearcoat or paint either. But I used to use "heavy" paste wax, and, with that on the car, it is possible to get small scratches in the wax only. I think a claybar-type product will remove those, because claybar removes the top of the wax layer. But that is all.
