Try the Mercedes Benz Classic Center in Irvine, California.
Normally a great source...checked with them already. No luck. Someone somewhere has one I hope. Thanks for the suggestion. Best.
I checked Pelican Parts here in Southern California and they also do not list the ABS brake sensor wire for your 85 SL.
I will post a Parts Wanted ad on the PeachParts.com forum.
Thanks so much...what is the PeachParts.com forum? Sounds like it is something about which I should know. Again, thanks for your help!
No response yet. The PeachParts.com forum is used by thousands of Mercedes enthusiasts and covers a variety of topics. It is totally free.
Fingers crossed 👍
Sorry, after two weeks being posted on the PeachParts.com forum still no response. I will bump my request up and see what happens.
Hope burns forever 👍. Thanks again so much.
Happy to help.
Sorry, no responses from the users of the PeachParts.com forum.
At least you tried; thanks again for generously giving your time to this effort.
I may have a source for the front wheel sensors on your SL. This email address was provided to me by a fellow on the Peach Parts forum: [email protected] Good luck.
My God, you are a saint. I will give it a go. Thanks so much
Hopefully Mr. Peterson will have what you need. Thanks.
Were you ever able to find what you were looking for? I have an '85 380SL, also, and needed to find a front ABS sensor earlier this year. After an extensive search, I was finally able to locate through Adsit Company in Muncie, IN.
I followed up with Adsit after your email and they are searching German contacts for the parts. Still no word but I was told it would take time. Thanks for your suggestion. Hope the parts are found!
6 months later I have a solution! Although I could never get the factory ABS Wheel Sensors for my '85 380SL, a technician at Mercedes of Sacramento was able to fit [some work involved] two ABS Sensors for a Mercedes sedan on my vehicle. The part numbers for the sensors are: 126-540-25-17 and 126-540-26-17. I hope this information may help some other classic car owners in the future who try as they may, are unable to find the correct sensor. Best and stay safe.
Good work, Brian.
Brian Scott 1945, pray tell, what did the technician do to adapt the W126 sensors to fit the R107 380 SL? I would give it a whirl myself if I had a decent writeup of how the technician did it. I know how my dear old Dad would have done it. Put a piece of black electrical tape over the Antilock idiot light. PeterD in Bugaha
