Little Piney is very clear and very low. Upper end near Lane Spring is floatable by canoe or kayak but requires a lot of wading and portage over the low spots. Below Vida Bridge the river has a bit more flow. Trout fishing has been spotty with this heat. Below Vida bridge the goggle eye and smallmouth bass fishing has been fair to the Newburg Bridge. Below Newburg the Little Piney flows through private land and there is no access to the river for floating until the junction of Mill Creek. Best lures are wolly buggers, glo balls, scuds, nymphs, marabou jigs, spinners, and below Vida Bridge, cheese paste, cheese worms, salmon eggs, and minnow crankbaits. For goggle eye and smallmouth use small plastic grubs, crawdad crankbaits, or beetle spins.
