Merging posts in to one thread

Is there any way to merge posts by two posters in to a single thread? We use the forums to get suggestions from users but sometimes a user will post up a duplicate idea - it would be great if I could find a way to merge that post into a another thread.

That's an interesting idea. I'm not quite sure how we'd make that work. I'll take the suggestion to the team, but in the meantime, my suggestion to you would be to advise users to repost into the original thread and then retire the duplicate. :)

Thanks. I have done that. The other thing that would help in the meantime is being able to provide a "link" to the other post. I have not worked out how to do that either. I have asked the users to "search" for the other post but this seems a little clunky. Am I missing a mechanism to be able to get a URL link to another post?

This is the format for links: `[text for the link](` So if you wanted to link to this post, for example you would [do this](!/setting-up:merging-posts-in-to-one-thr) (code below): `[do this](!/setting-up:merging-posts-in-to-one-thr)`

By the way, it would be a nice addition to get a "copy URL" or "link" button at the top of each thread where we could copy the URL. Call me a bit lazy, but it would save a bit of time.

Haha, I'll pass that back to the team as well ;)
