That is true, but I feel she's had top tier level 10's in the past. I am a big fan of her philosophy of using top level 10's/mid level former elites as the core of her team. It's been a recipe for success. Speaking of OU, I've noticed Ragan Smith has no mention of her commitment to them on twitter and doesn't follow the program or many of the current Sooners. Her IG still says OU, but he twitter was created circa Olympics and I figured it would be more up to date.
Ragan isn't on social media much so I wouldn't read to much into it. Also this class is very interesting to say the least as far as their resumes goes.
I also wonder what the delay in the announcement was?
Yeah I was wondering about the delay too. Especially because the lede of the release says "signed Wednesday" yet wasn't announced until Monday.
Maybe it took the media team longer than expected to put that video together with the girls' interviews?!
I missed or looked over the videos. Going now to watch them.
Maybe Oklahoma preferred to delay their release so that they created some anticipation and not be 1 of the 20 or so releases on the first signing day. This way they are the last top school to release their signings and create a little more attention for their program and be the stand alone release (marketing 101). It's worked because we are talking about them and not the signings at Florida, UCLA, Utah, LSU, Alabama, Georgia etc..
Could be true! Anything to help an "average" class haha Maybe since it's a class of "just" level 10s, they didn't want to get overshadowed by big name elites like you were saying.
My top five classes: (pure opinion, no math involved) 1. Bama 2. Stanford 3. UGA 4. Cal 5. UCLA
My top Five Classes 1. Bama 2. UGA 3.LSU 4.Stanford 5.UCLA
My top 5 classes 1. Alabama 2. UGA 3. Stanford 4. UCLA 5. Florida
That's interesting how many of you picked Alabama as No. 1! Here's NCAA Gym News' for additional opinions: http://bit.ly/2fWwbNc
I think if you count Alyssa Baumann, Florida's class is strong. Her mom is a physical therapist and is really doing a good job with her PT from what I understand (which I believe is why she deferred). However, with just 2 athletes (and one who hasn't really competed but once in three years), it's not as strong. Vanasia seems to finally be recovered from her knee injuries so hopefully she can have a great college career. Megan made a smart decision dropping down to level 10 so hopefully she can stay healthy!
Yes, on paper UF's class has the potential to be fantastic. I think that because all three athletes have just recovered or are still recovering from injuries keeps them lower on the list.
Yeah, for NCAA Gym News, we put them "lower" (third is still high depending on how you look at it) because of the doubt factor in two of the three. Since we don't know Bradley and Baumann's statuses and they haven't actually competed since their injuries (we tend to look at actual competitions rather than only training since + Bradley competed a tad in 2016 but the scores were meh), that's why we didn't have them higher.
Yup, I completely agree. I was just giving additional info for people about the status of these people.
Still no news on Nica Hults?
I haven't read or seen anything about Nica. I did see that Grace Quinn was at UCLA this past weekend, along with recent signee Nia Dennis.
It's rumored she won't be done with school in time for next season. But obviously just a rumor. As for Grace Quinn, people have been conjecturing she might be holding out for Stanford, but I can totally see her at UCLA too! I don't know if there are any spots off the top of my head.
According to Lauren at the Gymternet - Nica retired completely due to injuries and said on Instagram she's not going to UCLA anymore.
