I wanted to share my lettuce variety comparison. I sowed all the seeds on March 10th indoors, using Vermont Compost and organic seeds where available. They were transplanted on April 4th in a no till deep mulch system. The mulch is a low quality mulch. These heads were harvested on May 12th (63 days from seeding).
Weigh per head:
Newham (bibb 56d) 120g
Salvanova (Green Butter 55d) 136g
Olga (romaine 66d) 164g
Sylvesta (Boston butterhead 52 d) 231g
All of the heads looked great. Slight slug pressure. Super impressed with Sylvesta from both a taste and production view. (70% more than Salvanova)
Of course this is only a one season comparison.

Hmmm, I don’t love Salanova, will give that butterhead a try in the fall.

Salanova green butter is not gonna be the beefiest, it actually is the lowest yielding of the salanovas we use.
But it sure is pretty! Were you using the same spacing for all varieties?

The same spacing was used.
