Huh, this is an interesting thing to see. Amusingly, my first reaction was that this was the same forum that GMS is using for Far West, but I see now my initial reaction is mistaken. I'm interested in seeing how this takes off, given the competition that's already out there for eyeballs... including your own discord.
oh, definitely going to be a challenge. but forums allow for a different sort of discussion than Discord, and multiple entry points should be interesting
I much prefer message boards to ephemeral talk sites like Discord, FB, MeWe, Twitter, etc. for RPG talk. As is the case with Dragonsfoot's message boards, there could be plenty of "old" posts covering topics in the OSR that are just as valid as one written today. It's a lot easier finding such answers on a message board than on a site that only shows the newest comments, posts, threads, etc. Nice work, Tenkar!
I just want to say Hi to everybody so far. Let's see I mainly blog over at https://theymightbegazebos.blog/ and am still figuring out all the bells and whistles on the new forum. And as a confession, the last time that I decided I was going to show up at Tavern Chat on Discord, both Erik and Glen ended up in the hospital.
Hi folks ! I like this format. Login with reddit was a bit of a hassle, and couldn't of it with google.
Here is my blog (old school and 5e): http://methodsetmadness.blogspot.com/ And my OS retroclone (a bit of B/X, some 5e, even some 3.5): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/229046/Dark-Fantasy-Basic--Players-Guide?src=newest_recent&coverSizeTestPhase2=true&word-variants=true
This is much easier than Discord for me! Thanks Tenkar!
Hi All. OK quick question on the channels. What's the difference between "OSR Clones..." and "Classic Clones.."? OSR=D&D/d20 and Classic=Others (Cepheus, FASERIP etc)?
Curious about that myself!
Viewing posts is a little different. But thanks for the welcome.
Still getting used to it. I think more will become apparent as topics and discussions start happening
Hey Everybody!
Think you got it straight chuck_t. At least that's how I see it.
Hello, I'm French. I'm publising some stuff, so I've written a short presentation in the "PUBLISHERS" sub-forum. I've been gaming since the mid-1980's. I've been an RPG collector for years, but nowadays I tend to become minimalist in all aspects of my life. For example, I've trimmed down my physical RPG collection from hundreds of books and boxes down to two dozen books. Most stuff have been given away for free, including a few "precious things", such as my near-complete Planescape collection. "Old" RPG's I like : Empire of the Petal Throne, Amber, L'Ultime Epreuve, etc. "Modern" RPG's I like : OSRIC, Cryptworld, Rogue Trader, etc.
Hi, John here from the *Red Dice Diaries* blog, podcast and Youtube channel, I mainly post gaming advise and thoughts on the hobby in general (working with my wife *Hannah* on the podcast), along with the odd review or discussion about a project that interests me. I'm from the Midlands in the UK and have had a few bits and pieces published either by myself or as freelance working with others (such as Glynn Seal from Monkeyblood Design and Joseph Salvador of Eldritch Tales fame) and am currently working on creating a few bits and pieces to put up on Drivethru. I mostly play old-school games (I'm running a campaign of *Old School Essentials* at the moment and own a number of retro-clones, plus some AD&D 1E and 2E stuff and some POD reprints of older stuff like the Rules Cyclopedia. I also like some newer games and am running Vampire the Masquerade whilst playing in some PBTA games.
I'm Stephanie, game designer and co-owner of 2Stoners During COVID Publishing, we make games (well, just one so far, but fingers crossed!). We're based out of Washington State, USA, and we've got a blog about OSR gaming and some other junk in the works coming up. Myself, I've been gaming for about 30 years, and making games for about as long. I've worked for some big companies in the industry in small positions and some small companies in the industry in big positions. I'm just trying to get word out there that games don't have to be about millions of rules in a book, they can be about having fun (imagine that!)
hi I'm auryn, I co own 2SDC publishing and havent been playing very long (only 3 months.) I like games without horribly complicated rules and hope to get better at both playing and refereeing OSR games
Hey everyone! Reese here, live from Boston - I either go by my name or Koren on the various forums and Discord servers. Mostly a fan of BX/Old-School Essentials but dig on some S&W too. My pet project is a Cyberpunk/Shadorwun hack for BX/OSE I'm slowly tinkering away at. Rarely updated blog at: http://retrocyberpunk.blogspot.com/
Chrome-OSE looks cool!
Hello everyone, I'm Kobayashi, a small publisher and quite happy to be here !
