This is a nice, but incomplete, summary of some f the great things you can do with telephony to reach out to patrons who don't have a broadband connection. During COVID, we established a service so that libraries can EASILY do just what is described above AND keep track of stats AND offer the same stories online as on the phone via a web widget. And it turns out many libraries want to do this but don't have the time to do the recordings so we have a collection (StoryTime Commons) ready for them to use (members can contribute and we also adapt and record a bunch of great stories). We've made it affordable since it is a labor of love borne out of our frustration that the people on the other side of the digital divide were completely unserved during COVID. We can do it all for you (no staff involvement required aka Storytime Direct) or we can support the libraries that want to their their won amazing things - my personal favorite is the tribal library delivering stories in a native language. So awesome.
