What a great idea! I'm hoping to do something like this for my library. What organizations did you reach out to for donations of pens, ponchos, etc? I'd love to include some swag, but not sure where to start. Thanks again for sharing!

Hi! We reached out to several places in our area. While we did receive some no's, we found plenty of places that were happy and eager to support the take-home bags, including local colleges, literacy council, our city government's volunteer and human resource departments, nonprofits focused on helping with housing, financial assistance, job training, etc., staffing agencies, restaurants, and even our local Salvation Army chapter. I hope this helps and good luck with your job fair programming!

Hi T.J., I love this idea! This would be great for my teens. I was wondering if you had any suggestions of what I could change to gear this towards my teens instead of towards adults. Thank you in advance for your help. :) Lisa

I'm so glad you enjoyed the program. There's many ways this works well as a teen program already, such as the "What to Wear" and "Resume Worksheet". You may even include a list of "Job Interview Do's and Don'ts" given that many of them may be going to a job interview for the first time. Find places that are popular hiring spots for teens in your town, and maybe collaborate with them, listing out some of their most popular positions. Maybe focus on local colleges for swag, and get coupons for places in town that teens frequent. I hope that helps! -T.J. Rankin Reference Associate Tyler Public Library
