Has anyone heard any news on candidates for executive director? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Only real information I've heard is the OB's announcement of when they plan to have selected the ED (which I believe is Jan. 15, 2017).

Here's an article suggesting the leading candidate is Bill Cooper: >Capitol Source: Energy expert Bill Cooper tapped as executive director of Fiscal Board >SAN JUAN – Bill Cooper, the former president of the Center for Liquefied Natural Gas (CLNG), a trade association of LNG producers, shippers, terminal operators and developers, and energy trade associations has reportedly been tapped to become the executive director of the federal oversight board established by the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (Promesa). >“It is a done deal, Bill Cooper is going to be the executive director of the federal control board,” said one lobbyist on Capitol Hill tied to the GOP. “The fact that he has ties to the energy sector is no coincidence.” [Capitol Source: Energy expert Bill Cooper tapped as executive director of Fiscal Board](http://caribbeanbusiness.com/capitol-source-energy-expert-bill-cooper-tapped-as-fiscal-board-exec/)

@ohliz, he's denied it, but I guess one would expect that: >SAN JUAN – Bill Cooper, who serves as staff director for the Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources and senior policy adviser, described allegations that he has been tapped to become executive director of the federal oversight board established by the Puerto Rico Oversight, Management and Economic Stability Act (Promesa) on Tuesday as “speculation.” >Cooper described reporting on the subject as “laughable” and noted that it was premature to say. He acknowledged that his name has been mentioned to take over the position but did not say if he has been approached to take over the job. [Link](http://caribbeanbusiness.com/bill-cooper-addresses-claims-on-his-nomination-to-executive-director-of-fiscal-board-on-promesa-forum/) Also found this, but I can't represent the quality of this source: >David A. Skeel Jr.: professor of bankruptcy law. >All are closely connected to the private sector, when not directly with some of the creditors, even in Puerto Rico. It seems obvious they will wish to defend the intere sts of the creditors and not of the people. With such a team Puerto Rico’s creditors may rest easy. >As a footnote, one of Rob Bishop’s advisers, the Republican who proposed the PROMESA bill, is called Bill Cooper. *He drafted the part of the bill about the island’s transition to natural gas and was suggested as chair for the oversight board. Eventually he had to desist because of a flagrant conflict of interest. |5| Bill Cooper had forgotten to mention that he had been president of the Centre for Liquefied Natural Gas, a trade association of producers and shippers of natural gas.* [Link](http://www.cadtm.org/Puerto-Rico-s-Neocolonial-Debt)

El Nuevo Día just pulled its story confirming Juan Zaragoza as the OB's executive director.
