I can't do a top a top 50 list and be somewhat satisfied putting it in order, but I can do a top 25. OK, this list is my personal list, and lts primarily based on GREATNESS, Commercial , Popularity, Success, Relavance, Consisistency, Longevitity, and Mainstream Appeal. This is not the BEST rappers list, so its NOT mainky based on skills, lyricsm, story telling, technical abillities, flows, and all around and overall talent at rapping. My Honorable Mentions/ Snubs : Andre 3000, Dr. Dre, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Ghostface Killah, Lupe Fiasco, and Big L My List : 25 J Cole ( Cole is better than Drake, potential to be top 10-15 ) 24. Drake ( Drake has more greatness than Cole, potential to be top 10 ) 23. Kendrick Lamar ( potential to be top 5-10 ) 22. Slick Rick ( your favorite rappers' favorite rapper ) 21. Scarface ( prob the most consistent rapper ever ) 20. KRS-1 ( a pioneer and legend in the rap game ) 19. Big Daddy Kane ( one of the OG's and the blueprint to all rappers that came after him ) 18. Big Pun ( a damn near perfect all around/overall rapper with extreme talent, died too early and it cut his career short ) 17. The Game ( probably the most overlooked rapper on the list ) 16. Ludacris ( probably the most slept on rapper on the list ) 15. T.I. ( probabably the most forgettable and underappreciated rapper ever ) 14. Common ( probably the most underrated rapper on this list ) 13. DMX ( the boggest coulda, woulda, shoulda and " What If " rapper of all time ) 12. 50 Cent ( The BIGGEST & Hugest rapper ever during his Hip Hop run ) 11. Snoop Doggy Dogg ( one of the most Iconic and recognizible rappers ever ) 10. Eazy E ( one of the most important rap figures in Hip Hop, OG creator of Westcoast rap ) 9. Rakim ( the most influential rapper ever, paved the way for every rapper on the list ) 8. Lil Wayne ( has the most reasons to be on and ranked on the list, An 11 year old rap prodigy to a 36 year old rap legend. Has accomolished proved, and made his mark in Hip Hop already despite lasting 3 decades and being the youngest. Has the greatest catalogue in Hip Hop. He has plenty of gas left in his tank ( years of his career ) to be even greater than he already is ) 7. LL Cool J ( a legend, the oldest rapper on the list who is still alive and around ) 6. Ice Cube ( Greatest Westcoast rapper ever, apart of the one of the greatest rap groups to ever exist and manages to be one of the greatest solo careers ever in Hip Hop. ) 5. Nas ( a perfect combination of being the GREATEST and the BEST in Hip Hop, the best rapper who has the best albums, best songs, best verses, and best lyrics. And the greatest rapper who also has the greatest albums, songs, verses, and lyrics. ) 4. Eminem ( Has the overall and all around total package as the Best rappers. Has the most accomplishments, accolades, sucess, sells, and POPULARITY as the Greatest rapper ) 3. Jay-Z ( probably would be #1 if it wasnt for the two rappers who died and left a bigger legacy than him. Jay Z is the most relevant, constistent, and active rapper of all time. He has the greateat discography and the greatest longetivity in the game ( 1988-2019 ) rapping and making music e every single year. ) 2. The Notorious B.I.G. ( the greatest Eastcoast rapper ever, he dominated and proved to he better and greater than Nas and Jay Z when he was alive. His only 2 albums are both in my top 10 albums of all time, he wasnt the most skilked, lyrical, technical, ornhad the best talented flow. But his rappingbwas the most unique and catchiest. Sonething about Bighie's rap style makes it the best. He was already the best and greatest rapper in the game when he debuted in 94. Only progressing snd getting better until he his death in 97. Cutting his career short. He had the most potential of all rappets ever, and one of the greatest lefpgacies ever. 1. 2Pac ( unaminiously the greatest rapper of all time. 2pac sold the most records, success, accolades, sells in the shortest time ( 5 years ) He came in the game where he studied the greats before him to make him greater. And the future greats after him studied Pac to make him greater. He is responsibke for Hip Hop being what it is since his existence. 2pac is the reason why I cameout with the difference between GREATEST and BEST 2pac didnt need to be lyrical, technical, and have fancy fliws. His rappung and message tops anything lpEmcees/lricust showcase in their raps. Rappers make Music, Music is made to relate to you and and get to you in every emotion or emotionally. 2pac defined and was a rapper along with his rap music. He was the most dominate rapper who took and defeated rappers way better than him. Pac was far from the BESTyricist, technivcal, flow, and overall and alk around MC. But he was the GREATEST if his and our time. 2pac is the most revolutionary and impirtant rapper in Hip Hop History. He has the greast legacy and imoact ever. 2Pac is the GOAT

I think so. But even if he is a rapper, the fact he has never written anything should disqualify him from a top rapper list and be an honorable mention

Drake shouldn’t be there either.

Listen. I’m not saying he isn’t influential to hip hop. If you made a top hip hop artists list, I’d have him up there

I know a fact that biggie used to write verses for dre and even Jayz wrote the whole verse from still dre, it is unfair but it counts as creating something

Dre just added the drums to still dre while Scott Storch composed the whole beat

I feel that if your list was solely based on the most influential, cant argue your rankings at all. Though from an all around package, versatility, style evolution, rhyme vocab, skills, success, accolades etc, I'd put a lot of rappers above Big and Pac. I think the industry pushed their legacies posthumously to capital on the "too young too early dead legends" images. Biggies style was extremely influential to east coast hiphop but so many rappers have borrowed from his style and modernized it, I think that shit is being overlooked too heavily.

Man its hard situation with Drake, Drake is mainly on here for his success, sells, popularity etc. He 's slacking hard at rapping, making Hip Hop/rap music, etc. He's become too Pop and R&B nowadays, and singing too much. I feel like Drake when he's serious at rapping ( ghostwriters or not ) is right behind Kendrick and better than Cole as today's rappers

Dre might not be an amazing rapper but he's done far too much to not be counted

Drake reps my home city well but I'd argue against him having a Kendrick and Cole pen. His rebuttals against Pusha were examples of when he gassed up his pen to max versus the sing songs he does. It was great but it was no Ether or killshot from a lyrical standpoint. I think it's mainly because of drakes background, he's been purely about entertainment and business since his Degrassi actor days. Hes never been a bar Smith who spent years cultivating talents on his pen game. He just surrounded himself with people who knew music, how to help him hone his sing rap and how to sell that.

True, I think Cole is a bit overrted when talking about his pen game. He has great lyrical content, but he never said anything I heard that stood out lyrically like many other rappers like Kendrick , etc. Drake is ok ig, he's nothing too special either

> @Kaze453 > Since em dropped does drugs he never sounded the same for me Yo i can understand your opinion and I agree with it, I reckon Em was much better when he was on drugs, but you realize he had a reason for quitting? He attempted suicide and only JUST survived, he quit for his daughters and fans

Kaze453

I know why he stopped, I just mean how the drugs affected his rapping too

As far as the Dre thing.....I think we all agree he was influential....but I'm siding with knb (and various others) in that he wasn't a *rapper*. He wasn't a rapper's rapper so-to-speak. The guy who sits down, thinks of his own creative shit, builds his own structure to it, thinks out his own cadence and elements he wants to add to it, and so on. Besides, I think after No Vaseline Cube's above Dre in just a technical list >_>
