I think we almost need a facebook group so peoples responses are more immediate and information can be passed quicker. I wonder if people would be interested in one? I will put my full support behind it. That way we can maybe organise something as a community.
there is one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/205234443575719/
Hopefully, Pete Teo, will join the new facebook group. It really would be professional/correct/nice/right thing to do for "the new ikonoskop owners," to allow its 100 or so customers who invested each, much much more than the base $10,000USD price for the camera body alone..., to have occasional batch runs for cards and card reader pcbs (example: fully funded through kickstarter or other start up. NOW Electronics AB in Stockholm, Sweden have stated to me that doing batch runs again for the Ikonoskop's card reader pcb, camera motherboard/logicboard, etc..., would be no problem at all. They like having the business. But the ok, has to come from the new owners. I know for a fact that if the old Ikonoskop was around, they'd be ok with future batch runs to keep its prior customers cameras alive and functioning. Goran and Dino are the best. Even modded an Aaton grip for me to work with the A-Cam. If the Ikonoskop's sdi out had uncompressed 4:4:4, I could see dropping support for further card sales since the camera would be used the way the Sony F35 ccd genesis camera is n ow being used with a raw uncompressed recorder attached. But that isn't an option. The only option is for the new ikonoskop owners to care about its customers and allow batch card/reader/and possibly logicboard/motherboard production runs, if indeed Joachim doesn't want to be in the ikonoskop customer service agent role anymore and host such sales on the rawcinemashop website. I suggest everyone open up their card reader metal enclosures and look at the card reader adapter pcb. It is so small and looks like very inexpensive to produce. 75-150usd max I'm guessing on a batch order of 10 or so of them. The metal enclosure is the major costs here, and really is not needed. Like everyone else, the silence is difficult from the new owners and unpredicability about future support is... what led me to sell the camera to begin with like many many other owners doing the same as a result.... Lots of $$$/love for this camera, not supported by the new company..... I still want to buy the camera again, but would like to ask if card reader pcbs and cards, will never be produced again, before I do. This is very important, since otherwise, the camera will inevitably be reduced to a paper weight/museum piece without functioning media and transferring capabilities... Ugh...
Came across this, this morning, just browsing Now Electronics AB's site. http://www.now.se/en/referens/proffesional-film-camera-with-hd-resolution/ Very interesting. There are 7 pcbs in the ikonoskop and an extra one as well, being the external card. Pretty sure I remember Joachim saying the enclosures (for card reader and cards) were produced elsewhere, or at least added greatly to the costs. But now we have 3d printing. Enclosures for pennies now. Anyways, just thought I'd share. Obviously, the acceptance of such a batch run must, as I have already stated, come through Ikonoskop/the new owners. Some good news: I've heard from someone that is in contact with Joachim, so fingers crossed.
