Outdoor Storage

Hi all, I have the opportunity to buy a cheap second hand SUP. I am keen on buying one second hand to try out and maybe upgrade later. Unfortunately my storage options are extremely limited and the only place I have to store the board is in my back garden (exposed to sunlight and rain). I was thinking of trying to buy a sturdy bag and some sort of rack that I can hang on my fence. Hopefully this bag will protect it from the rain and sun a bit. Unfortunately this is my only storage option. I am very curious to hear anyone's opinion on my plan, perhaps the SUP life is just not for me just yet. Many thanks in advance for any helpful comments.

Rain--no problems there. Sun--I'd at least cover it with a tarp or something to give it shade.

I left a beatup epoxy SUP outside in the sun for 5 years. Eventually the sun/UV broke down the epoxy and the fiberglass. Also most bag will beak down in a couple years out in the sun too so i strongly suggest covering it up with a cheap/free(harbour freight) tarp too. Also depends how hot your area is, i had an incident where i left a board inside a padded white bag with zipper closed. I left it out in the summer heat for about a week and found a giant delam. So make sure its out of the sun and have vent so it doesn't melt the foam.
