Tinnitus is such a complex health issue that needs an accurate diagnosis as the causes are so many that it is difficult to find the appropriate therapy if you don’t know the origin. Because of this unfortunately very few people recover from tinnitus. A part form spiritual interpretation, true in few cases, the possible causes are: a temporo-mandibular problem (as quoted by John), Meniere's Syndrome, viral infections and Herpes, medicinally or heavy metal poisoning induced tinnitus, stress, traumatic events, depression, high cholesterol levels, auditory nerve damage, sinus & allergy-related problems, tympanic membrane damage or other middle ear problems such as otosclerosis, inner ear hair cell disruption etc, autoimmune inner ear disease, hyperinsulinemia, high homocysteine levels that causes nerve damage, aging, hormonal imbalances for example those due to the thyroid, blood hypertension, Sjogren's Disease, Fibromyalgia, Candida, neurinoma (a benignant tumor), acoustic and electromagnetic pollution, whiplash etc etc. As you can understand only by discovering the cause o f tinnitus the best treatment can be planned. I have been suffering from it for over 20 years and I tried different holistic approaches, the only one that gave me some relief was the assumption of a homeopathic remedy and a herbal one. But as I should have been taking them for the rest of my life I gave up. When it started I used the pulsatile tinnitus to meditate and now I do not even notice it, though it is present 24 hrs. All the other people I know couldn’t manage to recover from it and some of them are taking drugs to get asleep. Saying that, you may find useful to have a try with a 128hz weighted TF on the acupoints quoted in following article; the C and G forks near the ears. Let me know if you have some positive results. http://www.healthcmi.com/Acupuncture-Continuing-Education-News/1728-acupuncture-found-effective-for-tinnitus
