Last weekend I was out from Gargrave to Hawes..testing out kit. I must say, the gold star went to my new Ribz front pouches...having easy access to stuff on the move was good !

On another matter , what packs do people recommend ? Last year I just used an old rucksack, which, to be fair, worked fine. I was thinking of upgrading this year so bought a shiny new one...it fell to bits on A100...so maybe not for Spine !!

Lighting: Anyone using the Petzl Nao knows how expensive the spar batteries are. I've just tried using the suggested alternative of 2 AAA batteries and it seems fairly shite. Has anyone used the AAA's in anger? Any thoughts about recharging etc?

You are right the AAA batteries are sh*t in the Nao. You can pick up spare batteries for about £40. Just a note there is a new Nao coming out and apparently the batteries aren't interchangeable with the current version.

You might be better trying AAA Ni-MH batteries if they are compatible. You could get 800 or 1100mah ones and at least get to reuse them when the opportunity arises. Amazon basics 12 pre-charged for £12. Good in a pinch, but not perfect.
