Hi Bruce, we'll also publish locations of our MRT aid stations shortly as well between Edale and Hawes.
That would be helpful, obviously just because there is a stream on the map doesn't mean it is great to drink from (before anyone helpfully suggests so)
For piece of mind it may be worth taking a couple of steri-tabs
We recommend these, carry a blister of them and then you don't have to worry.
Great question and one of my main concerns. Am planning on carrying tabs and also a lifestraw if I get so desperate that puddles are the only option ;)
[IMG_8563-0](//muut.com/u/spine-race/s3/:spine-race:jjje:file_0img_8563.jpg.jpg) Shall be using this. Built in a sawyer filter. The insulation stopped the water freezing after 4 hrs in the freezer at -17
Problem with filters on PW is that many of the streams and rivers especially in Winter are very Peaty and even tabs do not improve colour or taste. I'll tell you where I got my water from during my finisher year 2014. Start to Cp1. Clear stream at footbridge by reservoir after road crossing after Black Hill. White House pub after Blackstone Edge, then CP1. CP1 to CP2. Pub at Lothersdale. GARGRAVE Coop. CP1.5. CP2. CP2 to CP3. SST at Tan Hill Inn. CP3. CP3 to CP4. Dufton public Toilets. Then CP4. CP4 to CP5. Pub at Greenhead. CP5. CP5 to Finish. SST and other Spine Team at Byrness. Obviously in 2017 there should also be water available in Horton in Ribbl edale Cafe and Dufton Village Hall. Others places usually open 24 hours are the public toilets in Malham. Other pubs in Gargrave, Malham, Horton, shops and pubs in Hawes, Middleton, Bellingham. Probably other places too.
testing out a steripen adventurer at the mo, also works as an emergency light, makes water healthy in 48 seconds, apparently....
