Why StartIsBack 2.9.11 has hard to read font / appearance for win7 menu search?

I have the win7 menu style on Windows 10 (20H2, 19042.928), font /appearance hard to read when you search something with the search box (used to be black and easier to read like the "Search More results" text on older versions of SIB and the blue text was better too) See the screenshot attached. Why is that and how to fix if it's not a issue developers need to address? [Start Is Back Menu Screen Shot](//muut.com/u/startisback/s1/:startisback:H3WE:startisback2.9.11.jpg.jpg)

What's your windows version and what other shell extension software do you run?

Windows version is Windows !0 20H2 OS Build 19042.928. What shell extension software are you referring to, not familiar with shell extension software?

Themes / customization / font smoothing software. Can you try running DebugView (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/debugview) and see if there is any StartIsBack output during explorer.exe restart?

Hi, Thanks for reply. Not aware of any third party customization or font smoothing software installed on computer. Ran DebugView software, restarted explorer (right clicked on the Windows Explorer entry in task manager and then clicked restart on the menu). Not seeing anything with StartIsBack or similar keywords, Can share logfile generated if needed or anything else at this time. (By the way, I had v2.9.9 then upgraded to 2.9.11 without uninstalling anything beforehand)

Update: I tried DebugView a 2nd time and this time I see a "StartIsBack was started 18750 ms ago" entry. At this time the menu appears normally as expected (see screenshot attached). However, on reboot of PC, the original issue came back [ScreenShot of StartIsBack Menu 4-25-2021](//muut.com/u/startisback/s1/:startisback:omUH:screenshotofstartisbackmenu4252021.png.jpg).

UPDATE: I think it may be an issue with the stardock fences (Desktop organizer software), I disabled it, and restarted computer and start menu search looks fine, but when I disabled and re-enabled fences without rebooting pc, seems like the original issue is still there

Yep, it's Fences

Guess fences is causing the issue for 2.9.11, but for startisback v2.9.9 and earlier, I did not see this issue. I even did an uninstall and reverted back to older SIB version to verify and no issue but guess 2.9.11 is recommended. (So probably worth looking into why updating changed that particular behavior when only thing changed is a newer version of SIB) I'll leave the issue for now, as I don't use the search function like a madman -- it's useful nonetheless ! Until a future update or a workaround is discovered to correct the issue (Let me know if that ever happens) or I just change to another menu style that works-- Thanks admin :)

@admin Could I get an official link to the older v2.9.9 until this issue is resolved. There are of course third party sites that host startisback, but I would like an official source thank you.

Same issue here with 3rd party themes. 2.9.9 works just fine, but search is broken in 2.9.11 sadly.

Thanks for the update!! After updating with your new version, Startisback appears to be working fine with fences right now with that issue not appearing anymore, even after reboot of computer after updating.. Will let you know if anything else appears odd but for now, all works as expected. Thanks admin!! :)

It seems that the update fixed the problem for me too.
