And when I say "quietly released", there is not a single review of them on the Internet. Reviewers should be gushing!
Interesting, thanks for that. I hope Stereolab are getting something.
these remasters already came out on vinyl a couple of years ago, so I don't know why anyone would be reviewing them now, even if they are available in a new format for the first time. although, I don't think there were many reviews of these remasters were released at the end of 2018, Beggars put them out without much fanfare, probably hoping the bands reissue campaign on Duophonic/Warp would drive sales of these titles as well (they even pressed them on clear vinyl just like the first pressing of the other reissues) and in all of this, Low-Fi EP seems to be forgotten somehow
Low Fi...YES! I doubt it will ever see the treatment and release it deserves. Great early Stereloab!
who knows, maybe they will licence Low-Fi from Beggars and include it on SO5 (like they did with the Super-Electric tracks when Switched On was re-released)
Thanks, Basil! I hadn't heard about this. Just downloaded and they sound great! It looks all of those releases on Too Pure have been slow to be reissued in digital format. Switched On Vol 1 is still unavailable (on digital)... and as you all mentioned: Low-Fi is still begging for the full remaster & re-release treatment that it deserves.
Switched on re-release was done by Duophonic and because they had to licence the Super-Electric EP tracks from Beggars it only covered physical media. Instead Duophonic made the two other remastered EP's on Switched On available individually for download: https://bleep.com/release/107757-stereolab-super-45 https://bleep.com/release/107756-stereolab-stunning-debut-album
