My most common use of echo is when testing a map and decoupling an input source from a hierarchy of maps. It is really common for me to just want to run one functional map that is in the middle of a complex map set. So the input into the functional map will often be a small part of the original input data. In that case I will paste in the data that would be passed in from the parent map as the content of 'Data' in the card that is the Echo source. [Capture](//muut.com/u/transformation-extender-community/s1/:transformation-extender-community:3fub:capture.jpg.jpg) In this input card we are passing the literal text "Fabulous use for ECHO!" in as the content of the card.
Sorry for the late follow up but I figured it out.
Sorry, there was an issue with the reply function on this forum... to continue for the benefit of others: Setting up the input card, I selected "ECHO" as the source, entered my string of information in the "Data" field following associated to the source selection. Then when mapping the type tree, I selected a generic text field within the map to pass the data. From there I could manipulate the data as normal type tree input.
